“The story of L’Atelier du Vin is inextricably linked to the history of my family. It all began in the first half of the 1900s with the highly creative and skilled inventors of the “Sanbri” corking device – a play on “no broken glass” in French – and a rotary bottle washer. Originally hailing from France’s Champagne region, our family has cherished the rituals around wine through three generations. We know just how special it is to savor a fine wine in good company. And I am passionate about sharing l’art de vivre le vin à la française – the art of enjoying fine wine, the French way – with wine lovers across France, Europe and the world by designing highly technical, excellent quality tools. I suppose you could say that L’Atelier du Vin is the hallmark of what brings my family together.”

Georges Richard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

A family business

L’Atelier du Vin has been providing wine enthusiasts with tools since 1926 that draw inspiration from the daily practices of winemakers, as well as the modern art of savoring fine wine.

In the late 1920s, L’Atelier du Vin began offering tools for wine lovers who wanted to bottle their own wine purchased in casks from winemakers. In 1949, our founders introduced the Bilame corkscrew, the company’s first patented product, with the belief that wine knowledge and passion were essential for innovation and creativity. Our commitment to intense research and development has resulted in numerous patented wine tools over the years.

With exceptional craftsmanship, expertise, and strict standards, our family business has produced highly acclaimed pieces that blend traditional and contemporary elements.

The Haute Couture of wine accessories

We draw inspiration from the rich French tradition of exquisite design to create wine tools that offer a flawless and imaginative wine experience.

Our focus is on creating wine tools that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional. This drives us to constantly design, develop, and produce precision tools that are both ergonomic and elegant, crafted from only the finest materials such as solid walnut and oak, blown glass, leather, and varnish.

Attention to detail is evident in every component of our corkscrews, from the mechanisms to the cogs, plates, rivets, and screws. We collaborate with skilled artisans and manufacturers worldwide, specializing in the various materials and production techniques required to create our products. All our tools and accessories are designed in our workshops in France, with a distinctively French flair that we take great pride in.
